The second artifact I selected for EEND675C was the Trends
in Technology Research Paper. I selected this piece to add to my blog because I
am very proud of not only the amount of thought and time that went into the
research, but the amount of knowledge I gained as a result. When I
first began the research process I struggled to select a topic. I took
a great deal of time reading and researching different technology trends in
education. Once I had narrowed in on my topic of: flipped classrooms,
one-to-one technology initiatives, and flexible learning environments, I then
needed to find appropriate educational articles about each trends, and then figure
out how they all fit together. Subsequently, after reading over enough articles
it hit me! Personalized Learning! All three of these trends focus around how
technology has/can create/created a personalized learning environment for all
students.
While I cannot use this specific research paper within my
classroom this fall, I can use the knowledge gleaned from the research process,
and the articles I read to formulate my paper. This is especially helpful, as
our district moves into a one-to-one technology learning initiative during the
2017-2018 school year. As mentioned above, it was challenging to determine a
starting point for this project, and then select the appropriate number of
scholarly articles for this project. I need to look around and find different
Ed Tech publications that may or may not have information on my topic. Prior to
this course, these were only topics I had heard of in isolation, especially the
flipped classroom philosophy. It was one of those buzz words I had heard often,
but never taken the time to really dive-in and learn for myself what it was all
about. EEND675C really encouraged me to finally take that jump and research
these topics for myself, and now I will be able to apply my learning within my
classroom to benefit my students.
